Welcome
The Capstone Project Electronic Portfolio (CPEP) is a web‐based project and information center. It contains material produced for a year‐long Senior Thesis class. Its purpose, in addition to providing central storage of individual assignments, is to foster communication and collaboration between student, faculty consultant, course instructors, and industry consultants. This website is dedicated to the research and analysis conducted via guidelines provided by the Department of Architectural Engineering. Student Union
The Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Student Union was designed to represent a light and airy structure that seemed to be “in flight”. The structure was designed around the school’s mission and core focus, aeronautics. The structural louvers were designed to be the focal point of the building while the curtain wall was designed to create a transparency that surrounded the space. The space functions as a student union and bookstore, with an emphasis on curved surfaces, visible in the design of the balconies. The skylights running down the center of the building are oriented to allow the majority of the sunlight during the day to be utilized.
PROJECT UPDATE
The project is currently shut down due to Hurricane Irma, but is on the verge of topping out construction.
